Product Description The Prego Maternity Empire Tank bathingsuit is a solid one piece tank style and available in black or navy. This suit has wide adjustable straps with a hook back bra for excellent bust support for that growing chest. It offers padded bra cups and a flattering empire design. The material will stretch and accomodate your changing pregnancy shape. This swimsuit is excellent for swimming laps in a pool!

Great for laps and large breasts August 22, 2008 Although the fabric is a bit unsupportive, it is a great suit for swimming laps. I do give it 5 stars for being the only maternity swimsuit with adjustable straps: perfect for the large breasted types. Overall, great purchase
Cheap, fit is not like the picture, not acceptable for lap swimming August 19, 2008 I bought this suit because I wanted something to swim laps in as I get bigger during pregnancy. So far I'm still fitting in my regular Dolphin suit but soon I'll need something bigger.
I thought I would like this suit because it is a one-piece and looks sporty, and because of the empire waist design. However, here are the flaws
1. the empire waist (line under the breasts) looks like it will give you some support and prevent the tent-like look, but it does not do this. The suit still wears like a big tank suit, leaving lots of airspace between your breasts and tummy. It does go in a little, but I have 2-3 inches between my body and the fabric.
2. The front is too low cut - much lower than any sport suit such as a Speedo or Dolphin. It is not ultra low like many other maternity suits, but still much lower than I wanted. The tan line from my other sport suits looks ridiculous as this suit shows about 4 inches of pale skin.
3. The overall construction of the suit is cheap. You can just tell by the feel of the material and flimsy straps.
4. The butt is too big for me. It just hangs there..literally.
Some of these issues are just related to my body type, but still I think the suit is unacceptable for serious lap swimming. I usually wear a size 36-38 and now that I'm pregnant have a D cup so admittedly maybe I'm kinda large in the bust for a swimmer (this could be part of the reason why it is so low cut on me). I ordered a large PregO suit and it was too small in the upper bust, yet too loose around the chest (below the breasts), and too loose in the rear. Otherwise it was long enough and seemed to have plenty of room in the tummy for a growing belly.
I think I'll just buy a spandex Speedo a couple of sizes bigger than usual.
great for swimming laps! August 3, 2008 I searched and searched for an appropriate suit to wear while swimming laps during pregnancy. This suit is super cute, makes me feel like I look great, and it doesn't fall off while swimming....the adjustable straps help with that. I highly recommend this suit...lap swimming or not!
Finally, some support for the girls. July 15, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Having long bid a fond farewell to my pre-baby body, finding a flattering swimming suit when I'm NOT pregnant is an overwhelming and discouraging task. Add a pregnant belly and the subsequent all over weight gain that seems to follow (anybody else's knees get pregnant?) and the task seems near impossible.
I tried on swimming suits at maternity specialty stores, department stores, and big box stores. The ever so common tankinis always featured a short little top that wouldn't cover ye olde stretch marks, and offered tiny little bottoms that left my butt cheeks flapping in the breeze. Plus, the breast support was always horribly flimsy and left my girls looking saggy and forlorn.
During the last summer I was pregnant, I put up with one such maternity tankini monstrosity and felt self conscious. This year I was determined to find something better.
I decided a one piece would perhaps offer more support and more backside coverage, so I was happy to stumble across this suit in my search on Amazon. I was not disappointed.
The Pros:
* While there is no underwire, the empire waist, full bra cups, bra like band and closure in the back, along with the ability to adjust the straps (!!) means my heavy weight nursing champions (this is pregnancy number four for me) look alert and happy. It was very flattering in this area.
* The tummy area is nice and stretchy and made of substantial material, so it fit well on my smaller early second trimester belly, and I'm confident it will grow with me -- though I'm not sure it will fit really well during the home stretch when I tend to be the size of a house. It will be winter by then, though.
* The fit is snug enough all over that you could easily use this swimsuit for maternity water exercise and lap swimming. No flapping tankini tents swishing around and exposing everything.
* Good bum coverage.
* Not so low cut that you feel like a matronly grandma, and not so high cut that you feel like your hips are embarrassed.
* Sizing is pretty accurate. I'm 5'10" and normally wear a size 10 when not pregnant. I know most places tell you to order your pre-pregnancy size, but I know I kind of get padded all over during pregnancy, so I ordered the Large - which is 12 - 14, and I was happy with the fit. I'm sure the medium 8 - 10 would have been too small. If you JUST get pregnant in your belly and bust area, you can probably order your pre-pregnancy size and be fine.
Cons:
* The bum coverage could be a bit better. My backside isn't the firm thing it was in my youth - it is a bit softer and squishier and wouldn't have minded a bit more support and coverage back there. I had to give the bum area a few tugs every time I got out of the pool to bring things back down to where they belonged - but it was FAR better than any swimsuits I tried on elsewhere. Seriously. FAR BETTER.
* It'd be nice if this came in more colors or even prints.
* The bikini type clasp in the back is a bit hard to fasten when you're all awkward and huge, so you might need some help back there. Also, it'd be nice if there were some more settings in case someone needed the band a bit tighter. It fit me just fine on the one loop provided, though.
All in all, I recommend this maternity swim suit as the best I've found. I'm tempted to give it 5 stars - but do feel that a few improvements could be made to make it a bit better. So consider this 4.5 stars!
Not bad for a maternity suit July 15, 2008 This swim suit arrived on time and fits well. I had a hard time finding a one piece suit that I liked and this one seemed to be simple and supportive. I had a tankini, but found that the wistband of the bottoms hit tightest right along the biggest part of my belly, which is extremely uncomfortable. My only complaint about this suit is the closure on the back is like a hook on a bikini and in my 8-9 month, it was very hard for me to reach back and hook it myself. It is not the most flattering design, but it does the job. I feel it was also a bit pricey for what it is, but there are just so few one piece options out there.
